Short update on the general situation in the transport sector

In the second half of the year, the corona pandemic is still the predominant topic in the media. While at the beginning of the pandemic new findings on Covid-19 were being announced almost daily, and many updates were also published by DACHSER on loading restrictions in Europe as well as in America and APAC, something like a "new normality" has now returned.

At the moment, there are no longer any universal country or customer restrictions. We would, therefore, like to ask our customers to clarify individual restrictions such as closures, changed opening hours etc. with the recipients of the goods themselves. We are closely monitoring the further course of the corona pandemic and will keep you informed immediately of any developments. Should new loading restrictions be imposed, these will be published again via our website.

Brexit update: the importance of a customs power of attorney

Although COVID-19 is affecting the Brexit negotiations, as of today negotiations between the EU and the UK are again being conducted via video conference. Three rounds of negotiations, each lasting one week in April, May, and June are planned to advance the details of a trade agreement. Currently, the end of the transition phase for Brexit is December 31, 2020, and DACHSER continues to prepare for this date.

A number of important points need to be taken into account when preparing for the Brexit, for example, a customs power of attorney from the relevant recipients is essential for handling shipments to and from the UK. Therefore, we ask our customers to continue to advise their consignees to provide us with the necessary customs power of attorney.

Network-wide introduction of targo on-site

In the course of the Covid-19, sales channels are shifting. The stationary trade is subject to severe restrictions and consumers are increasingly switching to online trading. This means that the topic of B2C is becoming increasingly relevant for DACHSER. With the targo on-site product , we offer a holistic service concept for B2C shipping up to the curb. As a result of the increased demand for B2C consignments in recent weeks, targo on-site will therefore be introduced for the entire network of DACHSER European Logistics on July 1st, 2020.
