DACHSER UK was present at Multimodal 2009
Dachser, one of Northampton’s leading logistics service providers, recently participated at Multimodal, a new trade exhibition now in its second year at the NEC, aimed at the transportation and logistics sector.
‘We decided to exhibit at Multimodal as part of our ongoing strategy to develop our brand and presence in the UK, and to increase our market awareness’, explained Nick Lowe, Dachser UK’s Managing Director. ‘Despite the current economic conditions, the event was extremely well attended and the organisers informed us that the visitor numbers were up by some 80% on last year. We certainly felt that our stand attracted a lot of interest and we were delighted that we received so many tangible business enquiries.’
Dachser operates a range of UK, European and global logistics services, including UK and European export and import distribution, warehousing, inventory management and order processing, and global ocean and airfreight forwarding.
The Company employs some 160 people in total in the UK, in Northampton and Dartford, Kent, and has seen steady growth over the past few years, recording an 18% increase in annual turnover last year.
Nick Lowe is realistic about the current trading environment. ‘Certainly the recession has led to reductions in business from many of our customers, the severity of which varies depending on the industry sector they are in. Nonetheless, we have been successful in obtaining new customers with requirements relating to various modes of transport and value-added logistics services. We have a very reliable, quality-driven service ethic as well as a competitive pricing strategy. Multimodal gave us another platform to demonstrate to potential clients the benefits of our whole range of services, with an emphasis on our European and global credentials and the way in which we use IT very pro-actively and beneficially as part of our overall service offering.’
