DACHSER UK wins BIFA Supply Chain Management Award
One of the prestigious British International Freight Association (BIFA) Freight Service Awards 2008 was presented last week to DACHSER UK for its work in supply chain management.
Dachser based its entry for this award category on major aspects of its logistics services activity for a multi-national FMCG customer. These services included in particular the purchase and inventory management of packaging materials in order to re-work product and the subsequent conversion of stock items into shelf- and/or retail-ready packaging.
In gratefully accepting the award Nick Lowe, Dachser UK’s managing director commented, “The implementation of these two services within our customer’s European supply chain has already produced tangible benefits for them in administration efficiencies and transportation costs. Close co-operation between our two companies’ management and logistics teams is now set to provide further competitive advantage for them in the future.”
The Supply Chain Management Award was sponsored by specialist transport insurance mutual, TT Club and the trophy was presented, on behalf of BIFA and the judges by TT’s David Lumby and master of ceremonies, Michael Portillo (see attached images).
In their citation the judges were quoted as saying, “We were very impressed by Dachser's innovative ideas as applied to replacing single-trip packaging with robust re-usable materials. This gave clear operational and financial benefits to their customer. Optimisation of transport capacity will also be achieved by the changes proposed. These benefits are in addition to the reduction in environmental impact achieved.”
